About Mark Mc Bride.
Marc McBride has illustrated over fifty book covers and countless magazines, as well as producing artwork for advertising campaigns. He has a solid design background in both advertising and film, and won the West Australian Film and Television Award for Best Art Director. Marc has had work exhibited with the New York Society of Illustrators. He is best known for his illustrations in the Deltora Quest series, written by Emily Rodda.
Mark and I go way back, as, like most of the mask makers, I have met them at children book festivals or at school speaking gigs. Aside Mark Illustrated The Journey from the Centre of the Earth, my own personal favourite of the picture books I have written. Aside from having a killer Irish accent and a great sense of fun, Mark is a gifted illustrator and he was more than willing to put his at to work at decorating a mask for me.
All you need to do now is to scroll down, look at some more of Mark’s work in the mini gallery, see him narrating his way through a drawing session by following the links and then make your bid on his mask. Remember, every cent you bid, if your bid is highest at the end of the month, will go towards the two worthy charities this auction is raising funds for. You can read more about them on the About the Charities page on the mask head above. And besides having donated money to two important causes, you will receive Mark’s wonderful mask as a keep sake and as a reminder that we are all part of the wild world and we’d better remember that and take care of it, while we still have the chance!
